I discovered my passion for traveling at a very early age, when my parents immigrated from a small hilltop town in Germany, to an even smaller flatland town in South Africa. You would think “what a culture shock” it would be for me, but I enjoyed every bit of it… You know, as a child you soak everything up like a sponge… My circle of friends was as diverse as the selection of Lego pieces in my toy box.

Family members in Germany grew up with a dog, a hamster or a parakeet. My pets were a bit more exotic but for me it was quite normal… We spent most long weekends and holidays traveling around the African bush or along the east coast of South Africa – from Durban or up to Mozambique.

The Kruger National Park became my place to bond with nature and the African wildlife. I just wanted to hold and pet every animal there was and made sure they felt loved and cared for. I quickly learned that keeping a wild animal as a pet was not the way to go. I respected their habitat and let them roam free, while I watched from a safe distance. I would sit for hours in a tree and watch the animals roam about. At that point I knew, Africa was a part of me and I would always call it home, no matter where I would be in the world.

After my university studies, I was offered a research job in Israel. From there I traveled all over Europe and ended up living the city life in London for two years. I finally put down roots in southern Florida and worked for a growing zoological organization… On the weekends, I led nature tours in the Everglades and introduced cruise tourists to the wonderful Florida wildlife. Also, I had the pleasure of working with the Sovereign Tribe of Seminole American Indians.

I was very fortunate to lead tours to other beautiful places around the world including Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Bali and Thailand…

BUT MY HEART ALWAYS TOOK ME BACK TO AFRICA…
